Lucy: my shorkie rescue

by Jill
(California)

I rescued a tiny female Shih Tzu / Yorke mix from some homeless people that were in need of money and could no longer care for her. I gave them $100 for her, she weighs about 4 and a half pounds, her name is "Lucy," and she has been a blessing to me, and anyone who sees her loves her too.

I first took her to the vet and had her checked to see if she was chipped, in case the homeless people were not truthful with me, and she was not chipped, and she had been fixed.

Since there is no way of knowing whether she was properly vaccinated or not, I have an appointment scheduled for that. At the same time, I can find out her age.

She looks like a puppy, but her teeth tell me different. She was infested with fleas when I got her, so I have bathed her and treated her with Advantage and have been flea combing her daily. We are finally rid of that problem thank goodness.

I have many questions about her that are not answered and would love to hear any suggestions on her type of breed.

I've been dressing her up in cute clothes that I have bought and made for her,

She loves to cuddle and sleeps with me and loves to go in the car. She has filled a space in my heart, and I very thankful for her on this Thanksgiving Day.

Another Shorkie rescue NEW
by: Anonymous

We rescued a shorkie, 4 generations of yorkie on one side and 4 generations of shih-tzu on the other according to her genetics test we had done. She was given up to a shelter by whomever had her before. She was estimated to be 1 1/2 to 2 years old. Without a doubt the most loveable dog we have ever had. Always wants to be with you. A great traveler in the car. You forget she's even in there with you. She seemed to be potty trained when we got her. All she does is sleep while we are gone and has never destroyed anything except an occasional tissue if she gets one to play with. This is a wonderful breed and our little girl has added so much to our lives. She is full of personality. She plays hard when you want her to and is peaceful when you aren't up to the task. I highly recommend this breed.

Shorkie

This mix is called Shorkie. Look up Shorkies. They are adorable and very expensive to buy, so it is odd that a homeless family had one.
