Buffy aged 11

Buff is a female Shih Tzu, age 11 (she will be 12 in June 2016)

We have had Buffy since she was an 8-week old puppy. I picked her up and she licked my face and I fell in love.

She adores company and playing games, although of late she prefers to lay on her bean bag as she has a bit of arthritis in her front legs and limps. She has now also lost the sight in one eye due to a cataract.

She still does tricks for treats; she shakes hands with each paw then sits up with her paws in the air, then lays down and rolls right over. We then point two closed fingers at her and say "bang bang" and she rolls on her side and plays dead.

The hardest thing with her was toilet training and now she is older she uses a puppy pad if she gets taken short.

She is adorable and we love her to bits. I can't imagine life without her.

Hello, Janice Here from Small Dog Place

Thank you so much for sharing your story of Buffy. She sounds like a wonderful companion. I must also say, she is doing great for being almost 12 years old.

When readers are considering a new dog, it is always helpful to read what dog owners have to say about the breed.

No breed is perfect, and I appreciate your sharing your housebreaking issues with us. This is a wonderful breed, friendly, sweet, so devoted, but they are difficult to house train.
